I think there'd be something better out there for you mate........can't be easy working for your family - make it more difficult to either argue with them over more money or to tell them to stuff their job.

My hubby has experience of working with family every day and it certainly is not easy so i know where you are coming from. Look around you never know there could be something better out there.

likewise with a small family run business, even though its not your family, they still expect family biased working conditions, I am in a similar boat as you, I hate my job and it rubs off at home, I never have time for a social life working anything over 7 days and anytime between 9am and 11pm, and not knowing what your doing on the following week till the sunday.
Good luck mate I hope that what you do works out ok!
I have got a week off this week, Let the hunt begin!!

i feel for you shane, never easy as rob said working for your family but i think leaving and working for another company would benifit you so much more if not for the money but you would get proper holiday and sickness pay, you could try speaking to them if they are reasonable and explain how your feeling and see if you can come to a agreement.

Indeed i have worked there 3 years never had a pay rise. Last year I had my engagment party on a Saturday had loads to arrange I Was pretty much forced to work, this is often the case with Saturday weather u have plans or not. it working later annoys me i know some jobs have to be finished but if it's not straight forward or unhave problems I think u should get asked if u can work later etc. Only had one Christmas meal thing. Christmas just gone I orgainsed a meal for the fitters and office wasn't going to. I just hate it. what is current min wage for a 24 year old?

Shane get yourself down the local job centre, you are worth much more than this, not just pay but treatment. Being treated like this is not good for yourself worth or confidence. My parents employ my cousins and they have an agreement that business is business and after hours is family time and they treat them like 2 spoilt sons but it's worked for 10 years. I myself work with my husband and know just how undervalued and underpaid you feel Have you thought of going self employed with your own business? Good luck Shane.

Mate... alot of window fitter companies around here... give them a call. I'm pretty sure they are going to pay more than you are currently getting. Our mate is self employed but contracts out to anglia windows etc and earns a good wage. No harm in giving them a call. Finger crossed for you fella. Just think of the new brakes when you need cheering up, they'll look awesome

i know how you feel m8, dont work for family but a dutch company that used to employ 100 english drivers now only 5 of us, that treat me like s££t, till one day i stopped the boss and told him straight you company treats me like a ass, and not putting up with it no more, since then i now get time with my family instead of 2 week trips, maybe it might pay to sit down and tell them you feeelings it worked for me. good luck m8.
